YANONE TYPE – خط يانونة

Type Design (more commonly known as Typography) is the art and craft of designing the letters of an alphabet, and combining them into a font for other designers to use.

Yanone is such a type designer. While being German, his work is well known to the people of Amman. In 2008, he contributed what is now known as the “Amman Font”, which became the Greater Amman Municipality’s corporate typeface and is best seen on the new blue street name plates around the capital.

He introduces us to more of his work including a highly conceptual typeface complemented by a short dance film, and a yet to be released Arabic translation of one of the world’s most popular Latin typefaces.
