تُعاني أمينة من شلل دماغي، وعلى والديها جاسم ونورة أن يحرصا على رعايتها. لذا ُتلازم نورة البيت متفرغة للعناية بابنتها، بينما ينأى جاسم عن حياته العائلية ويغرق في عزلته، ما يشحن الأجواء بالتوتّر. مدفوعاً بيأسه ووجوده الذي يتلاعب به الأسى، لا يجد جاسم نفسه إلا وهو يمضي في رحلة أمل نحو شجرة الحياة الأسطورية وكل قاصديها مأخوذين بها، وما يحيط بها جارف لا يعترف بالزمن والفناء، فتستعيد الحياة معناها.
حاز “الشجرة النائمة” جائزة التحكيم بمهرجان القاهرة السينمائي الدولي عام 2015. كما شارك الفيلم بمهرجان دبي السينمائي الدولي عام 2014 ومهرجان البندقية السينمائي الدولي عام 2015 ومهرجان مسقط السينمائي عام 2016.

Bedridden Amina has cerebral palsy and her parents, Jassim and Noora, must ensure that she receives proper care. While Noora stays home to take care of her daughter, Jassim’s refusal to participate in family life heightens the tensions in the family. Constrained and desperate, the couple leads separate lives, which seem to collide. A series of coincidences, however, bring new light. When Jassim takes his brother’s taxi, he embarks on the journey of his life. There, at the legendary Tree of Life, he becomes mesmerized by the tree and is suddenly overwhelmed by the surroundings. In an unexpected convergence of experiences. Life seems to be meaningful again.
The film won the Jury Award at Cairo International Film Festival, 2015 and took part at Dubai Film Festival, 2014 as well as Venice International Film Festival, 2015 and Muscat International Film Festival, 2016.
