Events in Amman, April 18 – 24

April 18, 2010

what is a womanIf you missed the performance of “Taman Banat” last month, you have another chance to see it this week with three shows scheduled at Al-Balad Theater. It’s a very creative theater performance by eight Jordanian artists who explore what it means to be a woman. (Read Rima Saifi’s review on 7iber here).

Also this week, the Amman Contemporary Dance Festival kicks off (don’t confuse it with the Zakharef in Motion festival that started last week. Yes, Amman has two dance festivals this month!) You have shows from different countries as well as workshops.

Some of the concerts that were scheduled this week as part of the Holland festival might get cancelled because of that cloud of volcanic ashes over Iceland that has brought all travel across Europe to a halt. We’ll try to keep an eye out for you and find out if they’re still happening later.

Read on for film screenings, theater performances, live music, and more in Amman this week.
