Events in Amman, December 19 – 24

الأحد 19 كانون الأول 2010

Join 7iber  this evening at the Sunny Art Fair for a discussion organized by Makan on public art and expanding the conversations around art to a broader audience. It’s taking place at the Zara Center, and will be followed by another interesting talk on art criticism by Nayla Tambaz, Professor in Literature and Art History at Saint-Joseph University in Lebanon.

The Columbia University Middle East Research Center is also hosting a talk tonight titled “Religious Fundamentalism or Political Fundamentalism? Reflections from South Asia.”

The highlight of the agenda is the Guardians of Memory Cultural Week; which features daily poetry readings, music, and dance performances by the Hannouneh group and others.

You also have a concert of best songs from Nizar Qabbani’s poems performed by the Amman Arab Music Ensemble. There’s a Turkish film at Shoman, a lecture on Circassians in the Middle East, Sleeping Beauty Ballet, a Christmas Concert at the Sheraton, lots of art at the Sunny Art Fair, and more.
