Interview with Dr.Khaled Toukan about the Future of the Nuclear Energy in the Middle East

Dr Khaled Toukan, is the head of the Jordan Atomic Energy. He is also known to be as one of the best Ministers of Education for the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. He served as Minister of Higher Education (2001-2002). Dr. Toukan’s academic career includes the position of President of Al-Balqa Applied University (1997-2001, a Research Scientist at Kernforschungszentrum Karlsruhe, and Associate Research Scientist at the University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia. Dr.Toukan is a member of H.M. King Abdullah II Economic Consultative Council, Acting Director of SESAME, and the Jordan representative to SESAME Council and Vice –Chairman. He holds a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, (1978-1982)

Dunia Aqel, a Jordanian political activist that holds a degree in International Politics from Georgetown University and Khaled Sidqi, the founder and chief-in-editor of Interruptions, an experimental publication which focuses on environment, art and culture from Syria from the Global Changemakers program had the chance to talk Mr. Toukan about the nuclear energy as an alternative to gas and oil. He also expanded on the future of the program in Jordan and its future ramifications.
