Events in Amman, March 19 – 24

The Israeli Apartheid Week, which takes place in over 100 cities around the world, continues this week in Amman and Irbid with film screenings, talks, and a concert by the band Toot Ard from the occupied Golan on Friday. Tonight there will be a screening three short films portraying the reality of life in Palestine under an occupation and an Apartheid system; Donor’s Opium, by Mariam Shahin and George Azar, Like Twenty Impossibilities by Anne-Marie Jacir, and This Palestinian Life by Philip Rizik.

Three art exhibitions open on Monday evening, while the Image Festival #2 continues at different galleries around town.

AUC president Lisa Anderson is in Amman and will give a talk at the Columbia University Middle East Research Center titled “From Resumes to Revolutions: Realizing the Rights and Responsibilities of Education in the 21st Century”.

You also have concerts by the Amman Symphony Orchestra on Tuesday, and the Arab Music Ensemble led by Ayman Tayseer on Thursday, and many more events. Read on for details.
