Events in Amman, June 19 – 25

الأحد 19 حزيران 2011

Film and music lovers have a busy week ahead. The Franco-Arab Film Festival kicked off yesterday and includes a great selection of francophone and Arab narrative, documentary, and short films screening at the Hussein Cultural Center and the Royal Film Commission.

The festival includes a special event on the occasion of World Music Day celebrations (Fete de La Musique), featuring improvised music on silent cinema, live story-board concert, and audio visual cinema-related performances.

This week’s agenda includes two environmental film screenings, Wasteland at Blue Fig – the 5th in a series presented by the Green Plaform) and award-winning film Energy Crossroads, at the Center for Strategic Studies, which is hosting a forum on energy the following week.

If you’d like a unique opportunity to be on stage instead of in the audience and flex some vocal chords, join the People’s Choir this week as they start their workshop to write new lyrics and compose new music for a performance that will take place at the Balad Music Festival on July 1st. Check out this video of their first performance in Amman back in March to get a better idea of what this is about.
