Live Music and Short Films in Amman This Week

Ramadan brings its own set of activities and live events; different venues host some local bands and musicians and offer different kinds of after-Iftar entertainment. Check out BeAmman’s list of places with live entertainment around town.

Local band Autostrad has two shows scheduled this week, one at Alwan Ramadan (Monday at 10:00 pm), and another at Bargo’s Cafe (Wednesday at 10:00 pm).

kamalBargo’s has an excellent schedule this week; On Tuesday they’re hosting Palestinian musician Reem Talhami in a concert to launch her new album “Yahmiluni Al-Lail” (The Night Carries Me) (10:00 pm, free entry), and on Friday, they’re having a Jazz night with Kamal Musallam on guitar, Yacoub Abu Ghosh on electric bass, and Christopher Michael on drums.

The Basel Zayed Quartet will be performing fusion Jazz at the Rainbow Theater on Wednesday and Thursday, at 9:30 pm. The band members are Basel Zayed on oud and piano, Yarub Smeirat on Violin, Bassem al-Jaber on double bass, and Maher Hanhan on drums. (Tickets JD10).

Discover up-and-coming Jordanian filmmakers with a screening of short narrative and documentary films by the graduates of the Red Sea Institute of Cinematic Arts, at the Royal Film Commission (Monday at 9:30 pm, free entry).

For a casual stroll in a vibrant outdoor setting, Souk Jara opens on Thursdays and Fridays during Ramadan, at 9:30 pm.
