Events in Amman, September 19 – 25

الأحد 19 أيلول 2010

Culture vultures can brace themselves for an exciting week in Amman, jam packed with interesting events. The Directorate of Theater and Art is launching Theater Season tonight at the Royal Cultural Center with two daily performances throughout the week (check Rima Saifi’s preview of one of the plays here).

Makan hosts an exhibition by filmmaker Annemarie Jacir and caricaturist Nidal Khairy, curated by Eric Gottesman, that explores themes of censorship and risk in expression of ideas. The Amman International Book Fair opens on Wednesday at the Automobile Expo on airport road with a large group of local, regional and international publishers.

Head out to Zara Center’s rooftop this weekend for the Amman Street Art Fair. Check out some Armenian Traditional Folklore dance at Al-Jeel Al-Jadeed Club tonight. Enjoy some Italian folk music at the Citadel tomorrow. Take a look at interesting exhibitions opening at Nabad and Orfali gallery tomorrow. And don’t miss the opening of the European Film Festival on Saturday.

There’s plenty more, so read on, and enjoy. Don’t forget to share your reviews, photos, and videos of the events on 7iber (drop us a line here).

7iber’s calendar of events is in collaboration with Waw al-Balad Magazine.
